We Need To Talk…About Fandoms

Taemin Ish SadWill my aegyo save me from your wrath?

Oh, fandoms. It is well known in the internet community that the mention of this word can trigger one’s hidden primitive side which, in the worst case, leads to exaggerated and passionate reactions at the thought of their respective fandom, much to the displeasure and embarrassment of others.

A series of events regarding big, actual and various fandoms inspired me to write a little about this and also share with you my thoughts on a few fandoms I have encountered the most these past few days. Continue reading

And A Happy First Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Whoops! Look at me, not updating my blog on the day of its first birthday. I wanted to get this up on May 1st, however a series of unfortunate and long events prevented me from doing so. Now here I am writing this post in the school library instead of working. Or sleeping.

But wow, already a year? TIME IS SO SHORT. I’m getting older and lazier day by day for my age…

I feel a little tinge whenever I think that my blog has existed for a year. It’s not much, but at least it’s a new accomplishment that I can add to my little life. I seriously didn’t think it would last that long, judging by the site’s name I choose without thinking and the boring posts I have written in the beginning. Thinking back, it was a really good idea to do the 30 Day Anime Challenge since I got to meet a lot of bloggers and improve myself.

I had no idea what else to write in this post, probably because I’m mentally sleeping at the moment, so I decided to make what I do best: Lists. A List on what I learned during my first year, and another one on what marked me let it be anime or what took place in the ani-blogosphere. And why not a list on my favorite posts?

  • What Naru learned:
  1. You can make friends very easily in the ani-blogosphere
  2. It’s best to take your time writing a solid post instead of a short vague one
  3. Avoid disappearing for long periods of time
  4. Everything can be pink and happy in the ani-blogosphere if you make good friends
  5. Team blogs are awesum!
  • What scarred Naru for life:
  1. How manga is not present in the hearts of many ani-bloggers.
  2. Guilty Crown’s story/Realizing what OH MA SHOE meant–Seriously, I have a letter of a difference with Shu’s last name in mine.
  3. Twitter can either be the greatest thing ever for bloggers, or the most idiotic thing since Facebook.
  4. The ani-blog tourney–Nah actually, I’ll forget it about it. I have a short memory span concerning drama.
  5. The amount of anime people have the time to watch. This is probably why I’m more of a manga person than an anime one.
  • Naru’s favorite posts:
  1. Best Yandere Character from the 30 Day Anime Challenge
  2. Why is anime everywhere these days? My first serious post.
  3. Phoenix Wright Is Never Wrong! A review post, but my favorite post ever.
  4. First My Two Cenz post. I prefer the second one for my Ao no Exorcist paragraph, but whatever :P I’ll have to get back to making My Two Cenz…
  5. My first post.

And there you have it people! With now around 20,000 views, 68 posts, and one year of existence, I’m going to do a little jig~

Yet Another Aniblog Tourney Related Post

As the title says, my post is far from being the first one regarding the Aniblog tourney. But as a fellow aniblog-blogger of some kind, I repeatedly kept telling myself that I should release a post about it sooner it later to explain it to those who are a bit unaware of what’s going on in the aniblogosphere (I’ve taken a liking to that word recently).

  • What is the Aniblog tourney?

The Aniblog tourney is a tournament held once a year where anime bloggers fight against themselves to the death. The strongest one becomes the Aniblog master and as a reward, takes control of the aniblogs that have lost against the winner. This sad cycle has yet to be stopped, but alas no-one has the courage to stand up against the powerful and cruel judges who were once aniblog masters a long time ago.

I’m too kawaii to die!!

One thing that I would like to add is that only the judges are allowed to decide who competes in the Aniblog tourney. If you are unfortunate as an aniblogger, you will receive a letter that states that you are forced to participate in this brutal game.

  • No seriously…What is it about?
But what I said was true, silly! …Okay, so I joked a bit there.
The aniblog tourney is a completion for fun where anibloggers virtually-in-some-way fight against each other to see who’s the most popular and appreciated aniblog of them all. The participants will be judged by the following criteria: The content of the blog, the writer’s style, the layout of the blog, etc. So in an easy way to put it, every two days which is the equivalent of a round, you vote for the blog you appreciate the most. This continues until the 19th of June if I’m correct and the winner…well, gets a lot of exposure and new readers. Easy to understand, huh?
Tourney bracket!
  • Why isn’t Naru on here?
Simple to answer: I’m not a regular blog updater. If I had updated more between January and March, I would have possibly been on the list. But it doesn’t bother me at all. Truth is, I’m not a big fan of the aniblog tourney and I cringe whenever I hear the word “competition”.
ALRIGHT SO MAYBE AT FIRST I WAS A LITTLE

“I’LL KILL YOU! I’LL KILL YOU ALLLL!!!!”

THEN,

“I wasn’t chosen…”

Until finally,

“Eh, I don’t care anymore.”

While more than one reader is speechless at the public and bizarre rage I virtually displayed, I want to say: Honestly, it’s all right take a joke and there’s always next year! I prefer continuing to work on my blog, make a few adjustments and changes over time before showing it off to the world.

Oh, and good news! I’m now an author over at Organisation ASG and will be reviewing some new spring anime in a few weeks, so finally…I’m kinda in the Aniblog tourney…

…Um, wow.

Losing Interest in Manga: Is it bad doctor?

Symptoms may include the following:

  • The inability to stand typical genres
  • Feeling boredom after reading for a few seconds
  • Experiencing a desperate need to try something new and original

  • How could I lose my love for manga?

This is a rather sad fact, but let’s face it: losing interest in something you like is a part of life. Remember the collection of unique-shaped rocks you had as a kid that you’ve thrown away once you became an awkward, lost teen?

It’s unfortunately the same case with manga. Some manage to find their way out of this phase by discovering a new series that suits them, and others, unable to find anything grabbing their interest, leave what we call the manga fandom. It is a gloomy event that can happen to anyone who enjoys manga as much as we do, even to the most otaku-ish person. Whether or not otaku-ish is a suitable adjective is up to you.

The reason why I decided to write about this is from personal experience: Regardless of the several titles I’m reading at the moment, once I begin reading a new chapter of my favorite series, I find myself skipping though the pages without taking in the pleasures we experience from reading such as the artwork, the presence of our favorite characters, and the little jokes. The hobby that was once dear to me today seems more and more like an obligation in my eyes. Perhaps the manga lost its quality that had attracted me in the past, or maybe it doesn’t hold the same importance I accorded to it when I first liked it. The possibilities are endless.

  • Is there a way to get cured?

To get cured or not is up to you. And there is only one way to regain your curiosity for manga: finding new ‘addictions’. You could read your favorite manga as much as you want to, but are you truly cured? Are you really able to begin a new series and stick to it? From what I’ve seen, the answer is generally no.

The road to regaining your interest may seem simple, but it can be very difficult depending on the person. For a fan that has experience in reading manga, it’s normal to be picky when deciding on a new series: You would want something that’s different from what you’ve read before. To illustrate this example I would use the manga Naruto, one of the Big 3. An experienced manga reader wouldn’t want to begin Naruto, a shonen that basically has all the repetitive elements you’ve gotten sick of in other manga.

  • I’ve been reading manga for a while, until I lost interest. Are there any series that I could try?

The good thing about manga is that there will always be something new to like, normally. If you’re not sure what type of manga to begin, think about your favorite genre of movie: Do you like romance? Take a look at some shojo. Want a realistic shonen? Bakuman is a great try. Here are a few new series that I suggest  ^_^:

I see beautiful people…

Afterschool Charisma – A psychological thriller. The main character, Shiro Kamiya is a student in St.Kleio that’s intended exclusively for…clones. And not just any clones, we’re talking about teenage replicas of great historical figures. After the assassination of Kennedy clone who just became president, the students of St.Kleio start to worry about their own fate. Will they end up like their original? Who is after them? And why is Shiro a student in this school? And more importantly, why the humanity did the mangaka make a creepy, harmless Hitler?!

Will God ever forgive me for liking this?

Saint Oniisan – A comedy manga made by the creator of Arakawa Under The Bridge, Hikaru Nakamura. After working hard in making the world a better place, Jesus and Buddha decide to go to Japan on vacation in order to relax a bit. From Jesus who pretends he’s Johnny Depp to Buddha who acts like the worried parent, we seriously have no idea what Nakamura-sensei was thinking.

Beautiful people are a must for these new types of shonen.

Karneval – It’s a story I have trouble with since we have no idea where the mangaka wants to lead us, but it has potential. Great for shojo and shonen-ai fans, Karneval revolves around a lost boy called Nai who is searching for the person most important to him. Left with only a mysterious bracelet from said person, Nai meets Gareki, another boy willing to help him find that special person. But with the powerful organization Circus, behind their trail to get the bracelet back, Nai’s adventure will be far from easy…

Like I’ve said earlier in the beginning of this post, losing your interest in your hobby is something that is both upsetting and natural. But, as Freud once said: “You cannot control your feelings.” – Even if you lose interest now, nothing tells you that you can’t go back to regaining it in a few years.

My Two Cenz on Winter Anime

Naru’s first post of the year is this of all things?!

Yes yes, don’t remind me… Being the idiot who never learns her lesson, I underestimated schoolwork for the umpteenth time. That unfortunately leaves me with much work to do and less free time for writing my posts as I did during winter vacation (of course). But as they always say: “Better late than never!”, I had enough free time to whip this little post up. Now, if I can only write my Tiger&Bunny review…

I love the way he sparkles :D

Inu x Boku Secret Service:

-sigh- I’m not trying to be the mean one here, but unfortunately I believe it was incorrect to add InuxBoku to my list for this season. The anime does have potential, seeing as the Secret Service characters are more particular than I first thought, however I can’t help but be reminded of very similar anime such as Black Butler, where the main character (a Tsundere like InuxBoku’s main character) also has a servant. I’ll be dropping this anime for the time being until I’ll have enough time, possibly during summer, to view this.

I wish I could live in her time…

Morestu Pirates:

Refreshing! So this is what they mean by not judging a book by its cover! Morestu Pirates seemed like the fanservice-filled space-themed anime that came along with an uninteresting plot, ear-breaking songs sung by the seiyuu, and clichéd characters, but…but… This is more like the anime Aria, isn’t it? At least for the moment it is, until the main character will take her place as the new captain of her deceased father’s team.

Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!:

Maybe I’ll watch this in a few months?

Regardless of the elements proving that this is an anime targeted towards a male audience (Breasts, panties, and moe girls), the anime doesn’t seem as bad as I thought it would be. But the fact that they will be using the main character’s nieces for fanservice just turned me off.

Ano Natsu de Matteru:

My two favorite characters~

The fact that they added science fiction makes it a little different then what we always see in your usual slice-of-life anime. As I might have said before in one of my posts or on Twitter, you can see the potential in this anime. Maybe not immediately, but it’s there.

Another:

Yeah, she scares me. The dolls too.

I think this is the first horror (like in real horror) anime I’ve watched. Worthy of a Stephen King novel, you immediately enter the story and find yourself asking: What really happened to Mei? What’s her relation with the main character’s last name? Why in the world everyone is hiding things from him? Besides the intrigue, I really have to say that the producers did a great job with the first episodes.

Daily Lives Of High School Boys:

So wrong in so many ways.

At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch it or not, since the art was decent and it looked boring, but once again I was wrong by judging it by its cover. Oh, and just because Gintoki Sakata’s seiyuu is in it doesn’t mean anything… >_>

Overall!

Winter anime dropped so far:

  • Kill me Baby: The opening is funny, but that’s all.
  • Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! : INCESTED?!
  • High School DxD: Gave up without even watching it. I have too much anime to watch.
  • InuxBoku SS: Same reason above.

Winter anime watching:

  • Nisemonogatari: Broke my own rules by watching the sequel of an anime I haven’t seen. Loved it.
  • Ano Natsu De Matteru
  • Another
  • Daily Lives Of High School Boys
  • Moretsu Pirates

Sayonara, 2011 (I hate you)!

I want to be a Akihabara maid. I wish the Mayans would stop scaring us all.

Since it’s the end of the year I guess I’ll share a little on my thoughts about this year with everyone. And don’t worry, it doesn’t concern my everyday life dramas -I’ll spare you on that for now- but rather on what anime, dramas, music, and video games have brought us. Before heading on to the main subjects, let’s look back now on what happened on May.

This might be a bit awkward to talk about it, but it is rather inevitable since this was a big disaster that shook the entire world this year. I remember hearing about it at school in the morning: everyone was talking about it and were sincerely worried about the sort of the victims. But it was only after school that I had the chance to see what really happened with my own eyes – buildings that have crumbled to the ground because of the earthquake, a giant flood that covered everything in sight except for the roofs of houses, men and women crying for the lost of their friends and family…

What was even harder for me at that moment was that I had no idea if my Japanese family members were safe (Fortunately, they’re from Tokyo where nothing happened). The news didn’t help – once we heard about the nuclear crisis in Japan, journalists kept exaggerating the situation and continued worrying those concerned around the world that couldn’t do anything to help. May 2011 was beyond doubt a tough period for Japan until help arrived.

Today, the situation has of course gotten better, but the bitterness is still present. One of my wishes for next year is that the concerned Japanese will rapidly get back on their feet.

After getting that off my chest, let’s move on to something more joyful, shall we?

  • Anime

This year’s anime was rather good this year, wasn’t it? Like always, there were a few disappointments (I’m looking at you, Aoi no Exorcist and [C]) we couldn’t avoid, but everything turned out well. What really marked me concerning anime were the summer and fall seasons since it was the first time I was able to comment, share and add my two cenz on the anime that were currently viewed by a big number of anime-bloggers — you could say I felt a bit at home because I got to join in on the fun with other bloggers.

  • Dramas

While I have commented, impatiently waited, and criticized a lot of J-dramas this year (I am terribly sorry to the people I know on J-drama community sites), I have practically watched nothing that came out in 2011. I have viewed the first episode of Ouran High School Host Club after mercilessly criticizing the choice of cast, forgot to watch the episodes, did the same thing for Arakawa Under The Bridge (regardless of the presence of my Shun Oguri in the cast), and didn’t dare watch the remake of Hanakimi because I was still pissed that there was even a remake.

Now that I think about it, the J-dramas I just mentioned above are all adaptations of manga. Dear me :3

  • Music

After anime, music really had an important place in my list this year. I looked forward to alot of great J-rock groups such as school food punishment and ONE OK ROCK, but their albums this year were unfortunately easy to forget and didn’t ‘wow’ me. Not their singles, of course! I have nothing to say about their singles this year.

In order to widen my repertoire in Asian music, I tried a little K-pop (for the fifth time) since the Hallyuu wave was impossible to miss. I’m happy to say that after a few failed tries of getting into it in the past, I’m now a new fan. IU, MBLAQ, GD and TOP, Super Junior and Girls’ Generation (not too sure) are now artists I listen to on my iPod. I still have yet to understand them in Korean though. Concerning other Japanese artists (I won’t mention all of them :P), I’m rather sad SAWA and Kanon Wakeshima didn’t release anything this year. And as for moumoon, I couldn’t get into their new material this year.

  • Video Games

They could have made a better job with the graphics on Zelda. But then the story was good enough to make me forget.

I was personally very pleased with all the fantastic games that came out this year: Yakuza 4, Final Fantasy, Pokémon and the list goes on and on, however Skyward Sword was the big surprise for me at the end of the year. I shamefully admit that it is the first Zelda game I have ever played…Ever since I can remember, I already knew who Zelda and Link were and how they looked like, but I never had the curiosity to buy the game until an old friend of mine (and living Zelda encyclopedia) kept indirectly pressuring me about it. In the end, I spent a large amount of money just for the collector’s version and I have no regrets. Besides, playing the legendary bishonen Link and swinging a sword around isn’t something so unpleasant~!

Hm, I managed to ramble about my life somehow. I should really do something about that problem before it’s too late. Oh well.

Hope you don’t end up like them tonight. Happy New Year!

My Two Cenz #8

Having so much fun~!

And this is what happens when you play video games instead of updating your weekly review: you post it up late and you lose time to catch up with your anime.

And what a perfect timing! Happy thanksgiving to every reader of this post; I hope you all had a great holiday filled joy, family, friends and all that jazz.

Kimi to Boku episode 7

Is that a blush I see?

A girl asks Yuta out?! Our boys manage to discreetly catch the delightful scene in order to question the older twin, but it seems that Yuta has no intention of informing them about his new ‘girlfriend’…

My heart! My heart is beating…too…fast…-faints-

I am such a sucker for episodes like this. It might have been irrelevant for some, or even boring, but I was sincerely touched during the little endearing scenes between our Yutan and the girl. And the way Kaname and the others followed them around in the beginning…It didn’t have an original feel to it, but it would be lying to say it didn’t go well with this kind of episode. So with a big smile I say: Can’t wait for next week!

Mirai Nikki episode 6:

He was seriously trying to kill Yuno in this shot. A five year old. Killing.

Yuno, being the Yandere she is, breaks into Yukiteru’s house and gets to met his mother, who luckily accepts their relationship with joy. But Yukiteru’s mother who is regularly absent from home because of her work, takes a few days off to take care of a deceased colleague’s son.

Scary is the way I should put it for this episode. And I thought it was going to be a relaxing episode for once, but this is Mirai Nikki. The appearance of a new diary holder, Kei-chan, really goes well with the “You can’t judge a book by its cover” proverbe. I sense a duel between Yuno and him…

Persona 4 episode 7:

Poor Narukami (?)

I just don’t know how to summarize this episode…

This whole episode was so wrong in so many ways. I’m afraid to confirm the boys have lost the small piece that they called their innocence while affronting Kanji’s other self. Apart from the disturbing facts that the battle took place in a Soapland and that Kanji’s other self was…well…embarrassing to see (and the heck were those S&M monsters?!), this was a very hilarious episode to view.

My Two Cenz #7

Uh, Gin? There’s something wrong with this shot…

There wasn’t much to say about this week’s episodes. It’s not that they were terrible, but there was nothing significant I wanted to say about them. And since I’ve informed last week on how I now plan to comment only about what I found interesting to mention every week, this My Two Cenz is pretty short this week.

My favorites this week were evidently Gintama, Beelzebub, HunterxHunter, and Working!!. If we ever get farther into the mentioned series (except Beelzebub), you might see them on here next week~!

UN-GO episode 5 :

I knew he/she wasn’t human!!! It’s a panda!

During an inauguration of a statue representing three students that sacrificed themselves in order to save a crowd, three fresh bodies are found hidden in the statue. Another case begins for our heros, and this time they have a new member to join them in their little group.

I wasn’t as much into this case compared to the last one, maybe because it moved a bit too smoothly and predicable for my taste, but it was still a satisfying episode none the less. I was mostly happy that we got to hear more (but not enough of course) about Inga and also that Kazumori
joined Inga and Shinjuurou.

Beelzebub episode 42:

Was this really a surprise? -insert last image comment from above-

Hilda, after being seriously injured in a fight against demons, is resting. Throughout that time, a frustrated Tatsumi is now determined to train and get stronger in order to be able to defeat the new enemies that appeared.

Watching Tatsumi and Beel-chan going though all that trouble to clean the Aoi dojo was quite hilarious! This episode proved three facts:

  • Tatsumi is absolutely not a smart guy;
  • Beel-chan is terribly weak;
  • Kouta (somehow) is an evil brat.

Guilty Crown episode 5:

I love this character. I think she’s much more interesting than Inori  :3

Thanks to Gai and Inori, Shu has escaped from prison but is currently affronted by a dilemma. Should he become a double agent for the government and denounce Gai, or should he accept Gai’s offer to find out how to use his power?

For the first time in five episodes, —five I tell you!!– this was actually a pretty good episode. Naturally the clichés were impossible to avoid, I notice that, but at the end it twisted into something very acceptable in my opinion. At least we can confirm that Shu is truly a weakling and needs to learn how to defend himself if he wants to survive in his new environment. I’m impatient to know how he will improve.

My Two Cenz #6

Already number 6 of this weekly review segment? Time goes by when you’re having fun. It can also go by when you’re working yourself to death with endless essays, but that’s another story for another day.

Since OMW is still a new blog with disorganized ideas and such, it isn’t a surprise that I’m changing a bit My Two Cenz. From now on, I’ll only include the anime of the week that I really want to comment on or either rant about. I just wish you guys are enjoying the little changes and thoughts that go by on here and that will hopefully bloom into something enjoyable for this blog’s many readers. Who knows? OMW might grow up to be a very impressionable site someday.

Boku ha Tomodachi ga sukunai episode 5:

And she’s a nun?

Thanks to megane girl, the members of the Neighbor club get the privilege of testing a brand-new role-playing game but as always, things never seem to go the way they wanted…

This was a so glaringly clichéd episode on many levels, starting with the obvious fact that this is what we see in nearly every slice-of-life anime, a RPG-themed episode. Nevertheless, I rather enjoyed seeing the characters in ridiculous costumes running around and fighting monsters. Now if only we move on to something more remarkable, it wouldn’t hurt. I mean, come on! The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya managed to become an unforgettable anime for most, and if Boku ha tomodachi doesn’t demark itself from other similar anime in its genre, what’s the point of liking it? Perhaps I am expecting too much from it.

Gintama episode 232:

Elizabeth, who we haven’t seen for a while in the series, disappears once again and Katsura is desperate to find him. During the search for Elizabath, Katsura and the others come across information that is rather unanticipated about their…duck friend…thing.

Haha, this was totally an, please excuse me for my French, “C’est quoi ce délire?!” (=WTF is this?!) episode. I had guessed that the new female character in Gintama’s current opening was a bit of a charmer, but seriously, I never thought the creators would go that far. Not that I mind or anything. Oh, and the references… what would my otaku life be without the miracle that is Gintama?

Mirai Nikki episode 4:

Yes, I’m having fun with his scary faces.

This anime isn’t wasting its time! Just after the horrible discovering Yukiteru found on Yuno, another Future Diary holder appears and makes life even harder for our poor Yukiteru. I’m honestly worried for his sanity as he seems to not be taking the facts quite well… let us hope he won’t implode (literally) from his position as a main character. I know it’s hard, Yukiteru, but this is too fun for us to really care.

Isn’t anyone frustrated with the fact that there’s always an overwhelming quantity of blood? I find it really unnecessary. This anime already has everything it needs to be breathtaking.

UN-GO episode 4:

Yeah, right. He’s freaking scared of you.

Second part of the mystery behind the death of Kazumori, Shinjuurou and Inga learn the existence of RAI, a sophisticated android created to fulfill the desires of their user and a valuable link to the concerned case.

Did I say last time that this case is keeping me at the edge of my seat? Yes? Well it still is! The way the case turned around and gave us a totally unexpected ending (along with the addition of a new important character) and raised my great expectations even higher than before. UN-GO might be ranked as one of my favorite anime if it keeps up the good work.

My Two Cenz #5

After a week and a half, my vacation ends tonight and classes will start tomorrow. Bitterly, I now notice that I haven’t completed one-third of what I had planned to do during vacation: Update my fanfiction, play my favorite Aeria games, study Japanese, and write my review posts. The only good thing is that I’m not behind in my fall anime anymore…

Three specials of completed anime have been viewed this week:

Usagi Drop episode 2.5 special 1

Ao no Exorcist special 1 and 2

Deadman Wonderland OVA

And onwards to this week’s anime. Most of them were excellent this week. Others (-cough- Guilty Crown -cough-) were not. Seriously, is it so hard to ask for a original episode? I could rant more about Guilty Crown, but will refrain from doing so. For your own good.

Boku ha tomodachi ga sukunai episode 4:

Others joins the harem.

As said above, two new characters join the harem who are both special in their own way, as one would say. Possibly different from your typical megane girl in harem anime, I would say the new glasses girl is quite funny and sociable compared to the usual, overused quiet personality we usually see of her kind. As for the other one, I find her/him very entertaining.

Working! episode 4:

Hidden Durarara!! reference, right?

This episode had humor. Working! always does have humor, but this time it had humor that would actually make you roar with laughter (as it did for me). If some didn’t notice before, this time we officially learn Jun’s feelings towards Yachiyo and Machiru gets wind of it by accident.

UN-GO episode 3:

So. Inga is a magical girl?

Part one of a possible two-episode case, we get the privilege of seeing Rie help the main characters (once again) uncover the large mystery behind the death, or rather- true identity of the victim. Not much to say for a satisfying episode.

Kimi to Boku episode 4:

Friendship really is a wonderful thing.

At first, I was questioning myself why of all anime I choose Kimi to Boku as an anime to watch, but now I can understand why. Kimi to Boku is this season’s heartwarming anime (as did Usagi Drop last season). Slowly but surely, the characters are becoming more appealing to my eyes.

HunterxHunter episode 4:

And my Kilua is here!

Exemplary of a shonen anime, we get a part two of the last episode where the participants of the Hunter exam follow the Examiner. Nothing much happens until Leorio has a flashback about his past, which was probably the only interesting thing about this episode.

Gintama episode 231:

It’s over 9000! -bricked-

The first part of the episode was hilarious if you like to see Gin and Hijikata out of character. At least they were both reacting normally in their type of situation. But the second half was too much (too dirty DX). I had to skip it.

Beelzebub episode 40:

Well, she was gonna cry sooner or later.

Why? Why did they have to go out and buy potatoes?! If I ignore my emotional feelings towards this episode, this week’s Beelzebub left me speechless. A bit annoyed for the déja-vu sequence, but speechless nonetheless. So Beelzebub does have a lot of potential. At least more than Guilty Crown.

Mirai Nikki episode 3:

You’ll have to admit that scene was creepy.

Yukiteru makes the ultimate error in his case: he gets too curious about Yuno. Being the first one to change his future not once, but twice, this time the tables turn and unfortunately for Yukiteru, not in his favor. So far, Mirai Nikki is one of my fall favorites.

Persona 4 episode 4:

We’re still in the introduction arc where the main characters overcome their dark selves in order to gain a persona. For the moment, the introduction episodes are really great to watch since we find out a lot on the different backgrounds of the characters. Now to find out who’s behind the murders…

Guilty Crown episode 3:

How original.

Inori forces herself into Shu’s life: trouble ensues for him.
Inori’s nonchalant personality is reminding me more of Evangelion’s Rei and I hope the creators aren’t doing this on purpose. I’ve never been a fan of characters like her and Inori is giving me the same effet.
